Owen's Surgery

Owen is scheduled for surgery to repair perforations in his eardrums on September 13. He had a pre-op visit with the ENT yesterday. Everything is still the same as a few months ago, which the doctor suspected would be the case, so we are going to have the holes patched in a couple of weeks. Hopefully not that big a deal. The surgery is only slightly longer than putting in PE tubes (which he's had twice before.) This time will be different because he is essentially "normal" now and will not be required to have nebulizer treatments the week before and after anesthesia so I'm a little nervous but hopefully he has big boy lungs now that won't get all wheezy. We'll find out a day or two before surgery what time to arrive at the hospital. Without prior lung conditions he would have been a candidate for this at the new outpatient surgery center. I'm glad it's at the main hospital though because I know how to get around (because of my dad's frequent stays) and where to park with all the road contruction downtown. I just pray this is that last "procedure" he has to endure. After all the stuff he's had to go through, I just want to know after 4 years it's finally done.

Oh, Sarah, I got chills reading your last sentence-just wanting it all over. Does he know he's having this done? How long will he be in the hospital? I'm sure things will be just fine and go super smoothly............
