It was a crazy day. Apparently at hall prayer this morning Father Phil gave the kids off tomorrow because it is his birthday. I didn't realize that was within his powers, but I heard some teachers saying the priest before him used to give them the day before winter break off. Chances are, if the weatherman is even 50% right, it would have been a snow day. Because school was cancelled tomorrow that means there are no parties and the school isn't going on their trip to the movies to see the new mouse movie, Despero, or something like that. It also meant trying to shove all the Christmas decorations and presents and things from around the classroom into overstuffed backpacks and dealing with the meltdown of one kid that wanted the ornament Owen got. Owen received the coveted ornament this year. It was a stupid styrofoam ball with reflective squares glued on it. A cheap knock of a disco ball. It didn't even turn like the one I gave Patti about 10 years ago. Or maybe 15, but lets not go there... About 6 kids wanted to trade with Owen. He said no each time until one of the boys in his little group he usually plays with asked to trade. Owen agreed and that only sent this other kid into a tailspin even faster. This other kid is usually a pain in the ass (and that's putting it lightly) anyway, so it really wasn't anything new. Whining and crying and just overall acting like a spoiled brat. For like half an hour. Besides, Owen doesn't like him so why would he trade with him?
Then tonight was the Christmas program, which consisted of a play, with the majority of the kids in the chorus. Which is where Matthew and Owen were. Liam even tolerated it fairly well. For a two-year-old that sat for about 2 hours, which isn't exactly saying he was good, just that he didn't run down the aisle naked and screaming. Which could have happened. When your standards are low it's easier to say thing went well.
So, overall, crazy but good day. This momma's tired and taking an Advil for my headache and going to bed. Nighty-night.

OMG-what a day!
Handsome boys you have there, tho!
Glad to hear Owen knows how to sift the wheat from the chaff, when it comes to deciding which friends to trade with. We miss the boys- especially now, thinking of all the time they have off- including those sudden 'birthday' days off.
Take lots of pictures and give each of the boys a big hug from me. Merry Christmas!!!
Love, Audrey
