We went to the Experimental Farm with Grammy on Friday (almost 2 weeks ago now). We took a horse drawn wagon ride through some of the fields and the kids got close up to some animals. There was also a whole display about John Deere tractors (so Liam, especially, was enthralled). We got to make and eat butter (which was much more delicious that store bought and very easy to do too).
Saturday we went to the Musee de Civiliation with Auntie Linda. IMAX was invented in Canada. Did you know that? I didn't. We saw an IMAX movie about sardines and ocean conservation. It was pretty amazing. I kept hearing Matthew say, "AWESOME," like 1,000 times, so I guess he liked it too. Liam fell asleep on Steve. I don't know how, the movie was very loud. We also went to the Children's Musuem, which is attached. It was crazy with kids. Even with 3 adults and Matthew, we still managed to lose Liam like 5 times. But so much fun.
Sunday, after seeing Grammy and Aunt Linda off on a 2-3 week tent camping escapade across the eastern Canadian provinces (including PEI and Anne of Green Gables house and camping on an "ocean view" campsite in Nova Scotia) and into Maine and New Hampshire, we cleared out of Uncle Gary's hair and headed to NJ to see friends.
Monday we saw Annie and her kids. Nicholas (6 today, Happy Birthday Nick!) and Owen riding a 4-wheeler. Austin is to the left. Liam and either Katie or Emma (I'm guessing Katie, since she was more interested in the baby 4-wheelers at the time, but I can't tell them apart from the back! Lucky to be able to do it from the front!).
Friday we had lunch with our former neighbors (delicious BLTs and chips...yummy). The boys had fun swimming and swinging on the tire swing (Matthew remembered it. He also remembered when he got pushed into the tree trunk) and we had fun investigating our old house from the property line. We also took the boys to the Delaware River (about a mile from our old house).
The rest of the time was spent mostly at Audrey's house where the boys were showered with attention and Kosher pizza (delicious!) and soccer. Loni had a bunch of stuff the kids got into. I got out a few times to see Patti and Steve and I spent one night there (for the previously mentioned Wii Tournament of Families and more delicious pizza).
We got home Saturday 8/2 after a long 12 hour drive. The boys did a lot of catching up on the sleep in the car. They each probably slept about 3 hours, which is 4 times as long as they would if they didn't run their little hineys off as soccer camp all week. The boys had so much fun playing soccer. Owen wants to play when school starts. Matthew had a great time in Loni's group and said he would play again once school starts, but depending on practices, I know he really wants to do choir again, so that may not work out.
Our new garage door is beautiful! Well, as beautiful as a garage door can be. The opener is so quiet you can hardly hear it. And it's great to have the window light.
Our other exciting thing since we came home is that we bought a Wii. It's so fun. I have been staying up entirely too late playing Luxor (Bejeweled type of game). I hear that the Wii Fit will be in the Best Buy flyer on Sunday so we have plans to be there before they open to hopefully snag one. Steve and I had so much fun with it at Patti & Vinny's last week. I had recently said that I would never buy another video game system (we still use the first PlayStation), so, let this be a lesson. Never say never. How sad is this...my arm is actually sore from playing bowling against Steve last night. Do I need the Wii Fit or what?
And while I was trying to piece this monstrosity of a post together...Owen's new backpack from LLBean arrived. He is so excited for school to start (in 26 days, I think) and wanted to know where his unicorn was (he meant uniform).
The End.
