Liam & His Stitches

All this morning the boys were playing Legos really nicely. I set them upstairs to make their beds (it was around 11:30am, so it was time they made their beds). Liam was running around in their room and, being the clutz that he is, smacked his head on the corner of the wall. Matthew screamed for me immediately and when I got up there (in about .63 seconds because of the panic in Matthew's voice, I would have set a new Olympic world record, if flying up stairs was an event) I found Liam with a good inch gash on his forehead. Fortunately Steve was home too (since he works in the basement) and we decided to call 911. The fire chief came within a couple of minutes and because of Liam's age and the fact that it was a head wound, even though he did not seem loopy or out of it, he recommended that we proceed to the hospital via ambulance. It's not like we needed a lot of persuasion. So Liam and I got a cool ride. No sirens, I'm assuming no lights either since in seemed we were stopped at traffic lights, but it's hard to tell driving backwards. It's a pretty deep wound, down to the membrane covering the skull (all I saw was blood/red, no white bone) but it went back together nicely (according to the doctor) and he should have his 4 stitches taken out on Monday. It looks a little worse than it is because he is developing a line bruise from the wall corner above and below the cut. Now we just have to watch him to make sure he doesn't have a concussion too. That was our exciting day. What fun did you have today?
