Another Update On Owen's Ears

OK, so today was the check up to see if the hole that persisted underneath the paper patch had closed. The doctor last time was not too optimistic but willing to let it try and heal for another month. Apparently the hole did heal, which is a good thing, however Owen now is retaining fluid behind both eardrums, which would be remedied by...anyone...anyone... having a hole in his eardrum! AHHHHHH!!!!! Still after almost 5 years he's doing the "preemie dance." Two steps forward, one back. Honestly though, if this is as problematic as it gets, we'll take it. For everything that could have been, this is nothing. He has mild hearing loss associated with the fluid. He has been recently stuffy, so not sure if it's Steve's cold (but no sore throat and Steve's killed for a couple of days) or allergies. I started the Allegra again a few days ago but doc said it doesn't work on ears. The doctor prescribed Flonase and we will wait and see with a re-check in 3 months. One good thing is that Owen never kept fluid behind his eardrums, they always ruptured quickly, so in a demented sense, it's kind of a good sign they didn't rupture yet. And the saga continues...
