Owen's Eye Appointment
I forgot to let most of you know how Owen's appointment with the ophthalmologist went last week. Mostly because there is nothing new to report. Yay!!! The tech felt he was exhibiting muscle issues during the pre-exam, so that added 45 minutes on to the visit, since he couldn't be dilated until checked for muscle issues by the doc. Once she checked him out, he was dilated. No muscle problems, he was just too distracted to focus and when she redirected him, he was fine. Dilated exam was as normal as it could be with Owen's eye history. He is slightly near-sighted, but no glasses yet as his functional vision is between 20/30 and 20/40, which is still legal to drive, if he was of driving age. And it's not like they do a lot of board work in kindergarten, mostly just circle time and groups at tables, so no glasses needed just yet. He will at some point have them, but big deal. Many former preemies have thick glasses by Owen's age. The fact that his prescription doesn't even necessitate correction at this time is a huge deal. But that is the miracle that is Owen.
