We are having some drainage pipes laid so our sump pump and downspouts are directed away from the foundation. Since we replaced the gutters, rain water actually goes where is should and we are getting some moisture along the one wall of the basement. The sump drains into the septic which will just shorten the life of the septic, so that, along with the downspouts, made us decide to go ahead with this project this year. Of course nothing went as easily as it was supposed to. The gas pipe is a bit further out than our contractor wanted and the downspouts aren't the standard size so he is having trouble finding the fitting, so a not even one full day of work is turning into two. As soon as the workers left, the boys were all over the equipment left behind. Levi is spending the night. The kids spent all afternoon watching the digging. I just want it done so we can rake it out and plant grass seed.

Gosh... that equipment looks like fun. Who needs Disney World- give me a big backhoe. It sounds like you are making some substantial and lasting improvements to enhance years of backyard (but mostly basement) enjoyment!!
